"Day trips to Port Townsend, Langley and La Conner. Saw a play in Oak Harbor at Whidbey Playhouse. We had a great week in a beautiful part of our country." Bruce & Ruth
Here are some of the best places to visit while you're temporarily living in Coupeville:
Ebey Landing Beach Day Hike or Sunset Viewing. 5 minute drive puts you on an amazing beach with views to Port Townsend and Olympic mountains. Go during the day and watch container and cruise ships passing by. Sunsets are a must see! Easy parking - flat beach. There is an excellent loop hike from here that takes you along a high bluff and returns via the beach. Hike Info/Directions.
Fort Casey (http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Fort+Casey) and Fort Ebey (http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Fort+Ebey) are great for picnics and beach walks, not to mention the bunkers and old military guns! Fort Casey's beach is rocky and loaded with interesting driftwood (bring the kids and make your own driftwood fort!).
Langley is another shopping destination worth driving to. Restaurants, antique and art galleries perched above a lovely public beach. Grey whales are known to seasonally feed in the shallow waters near town. http://www.langleywa.org/
Double Bluff Park offers beautiful, sandy beaches, warmer water and excellent beach combing. http://visitwhidbey.com/camp-grounds/Double-Bluff-Beach.html
Bayview Farmer's Market is about 30 minute drive south of Coupeville http://www.bayviewfarmersmarket.com/.When you're there make sure to visit the garden center and the Bayview Corner building which is full of excellent shops. http://www.goosefoot.org/
